Rottingdean In Bloom

February 9, 2013 by Rottingdean 1 Comment

Following the South & South East in Bloom competitions in 2012, it will be an extremely difficult and almost impossible task to repeat the astonishing achievements again this year.

Notwithstanding, Kipling Gardens and Beacon Hill Nature Reserve that both won Gold, have already been re-entered, together with St. Aubyn’s Mead, and The Grange Public Gardens in their respective categories, this leaves the “Small Town” village application in abeyance until our AGM on the 7th February.

This largely depends upon the physical support we are able to enlist, purely to look after and maintain three or four planted containers in the High Street and Marine Drive, the cost for which is covered by our “In Bloom” funds.

If, therefore, any resident is willing to join our existing team you will be very welcome to attend our meeting on the 7th which is to be held in the Whiteway Centre at 6pm, alternatively you can always contact me on 302431 for further information.

Incidentally, unreported was the recognition of Irene Skinner, a resident in St. Aubyn’s Mead, who was presented with A Lifetime Achievement Award for devoted service in the Best Community Garden competition by the B & HCC “In Bloom” organisation.

Little can be accomplished without the necessary funding and if any resident is willing to support us, even in a small way; perhaps you would kindly complete the pro forma below and send it to our treasurer with your donation.

Please download the form here.

With grateful thanks.
