Our very own Roderick Hart from Rottingdean Jazz is doing a Solo 15k Sea Swim from Shoreham Harbour to Rottingdean on Sunday 22nd September in aid of SENSE for deafblind people and Sussex Pet Rescue Charitable Trust
SENSE are a national charity that supports and campaigns for children and adults who are deafblind.
The Sussex Pet Rescue Charitable Trust are a small charity working to re-home dogs in Sussex. They give out advice and contact numbers of other rescue centres that would be able to help people with cats and other animals whether it be with rehoming or any problems that they need advice about. They also run a subsidised neutering scheme where they are able to help people on low incomes with the cost of getting their pets neutered and they need our help to carry on saving the lives of the animals that go on to be happy in their new homes and bring so much to the families that adopt them.
This swim could be quite tough as the tides will have to be on Rod’s side and he will need to maintain a race pace over much of the distance to ensure he catches as much of the current as he can before the tide changes.
Rod will be setting off at 7.45 am from Shoreham and should be at the Palace Pier at around 9.30 am and the Marina at 10.10am. Then the hard part starts from the Marina to Rottingdean when the current will not be helping.
Please head on down to the beach to cheer him on and if you can, please sponsor him and show your support:
