The Plough Inn Rottingdean under the Management of Declan Mongey has become an integral part of the local community and a staunch supporter of all types of Charities. The pub walls are adorned with cheques presented over the last 18 months totalling over £15000.00 . Recipients include Hilton/Argus Ball, Teenage Cancer Trust, Great Genuius School,Help for Heroes, Cedar Centre School, Dogs Trust, Coco Foundation. Individual amounts donated vary from £500 to over £4000. The pub is now a firm choice for local families to celebrate all types of events. Declan has also embraced the local social scene by running regular meat raffles to support amongst many local events the ‘Smugglers Night’ celebrations as well as the local village fairs, torchlight processions and long standing Boxing Day Pub Challenge Match which sees Rottingdean packed to bursting with thousands of people attending. The Plough recently gathered a group of no less than 61 guests to attend the Hilton in the Community Annual Ball in joint support of the Argus Appeal. I think Declan and his partner Karl go beyond the call of duty in being Landlords and enhance the village community.
