FOBH will be manning a stall at the Rottingdean Village Fair, Saturday 5th August, and were wondering if anybody would be in a position to offer up raffle prizes. Last year we had an amazing response to our fundraising from the raffle, along with 15 bird box sponsorships. These bird boxes will be available for sponsorship during the 2017-2018 season and we are still awaiting confirmation that another 10 boxes are being donated.
We have already received a donation of a “Friends of the Forest Quilt”, a couple of bottles of plonk and will also be selling specially designed oven gloves but need more goodies.
With your help last year we raised enough to replace the David Christie bench and erect the new bench that is on the St Dunstans path. This year we are raising funds for new noticeboards around the Nature Reserve.
Thank you for your continued support.
Friends of Beacon Hill Committee

If you would like details of members standing for re-election or are interested in standing yourself, please contact us by email or come along to one of the work sessions before the AGM.
The next Friends of Beacon Hill Work session is on Thursday the 15th of September. (meeting at the notice board near the Longhill road entrance to the reserve at 10am).
We look forward to seeing you at either the work sessions or the AGM (or both).
Please find attached the agenda for the meeting on the 16th – bhlnr-agm-agenda.pdf

See you on the hill
GMB are organising a petition against the proposals to make major cuts to the Ranger Service within Brighton & Hove Council. GMB believes that this service is vital for the maintenance of the area’s green spaces and for encouraging people to get involved with the countryside.
An intricate part of the volunteer actions on beacon hill nature reserve is the support and guidance from the ranger service!
Brighton & Hove City Council Rangers provide a unique and valuable service for the residents, visitors and wildlife of our city. Cutting the Ranger service would be hugely detrimental and result in our green spaces falling into disrepair.
If you feel passionate about this take a look the GMB website and sign the petition:
