Unique to the Brighton area, spoken Latin can be overheard at Rottingdean Whiteway Centre on Tuesday mornings, albeit Latin with a difference. Aimed primarily at those whose knowledge of the language has rusted over the years but who wish to revive it, this course involves stories of Roman Britain and cryptic puzzles, as well as a considerable amount of laughter. A wide variety of learning opportunities are on offer at the Centre: new courses in the Summer Term, which begins on April 16, include an Introduction to Calligraphy and Listening to Jazz, short courses ideal as tasters for the longer Spring and Autumn terms. Full details can be found at www.rwc.org.uk, or in prospectuses available now at the Centre, as well as in libraries and local outlets.
