The 200 Club has been in existence for well over twenty years. Starting from modest beginnings of around fifteen business subscribers and building year on year, we have managed to reach the optimum target of 200 numbers, after broadening our horizons to include local residents.

Needless to say “200” is purely a notional figure, as there is no reason why this number should not be exceeded, even to 220 or 240, which we will endeavour to target on the next anniversary in July.

Legally, at least 50% of the income has to be set aside for prize monies and, therefore, in addition to the four regular monthly prizes, there is the Bumper Christmas prize, representing 10% of the total, thus making up the full percentage.

Residual funds are then allocated to village charities or events, according to the merits of each, such as the rejuvenation of the Lower Terraces, “Rottingdean in Bloom”, PARC Youth Work projects and the festive decorations, whereby every member will be contributing, in a modest way, towards the Village activities.
